Resolution 1 — Opposition to the EHO Application at 2705 24th St N
BACKGROUND:
An application for an Expanded Housing Option (EHO) permit was recently filed for 2705 24th St. N in Arlington;
The applicant removed substantial mature tree cover at the site just prior to submitting its EHO permit application;
The neighborhood is served by only two access points onto Lorcom Lane, only one of which is signalized, and the added density from EHO development will create traffic and safety hazards for residents;
No study of the impact of the EHO policy on sewer, stormwater, schools, and other infrastructure has been conducted at the neighborhood level for Woodmont, nor has any study been completed for the impact on tree canopy and other environmental concerns.
RESOLUTION 1:
BE IT RESOLVED that the Woodmont Civic Association opposes the EHO permit application for 2705 24th Street N. and urges Arlington County Zoning Administrator and County Board to deny it.
Resolution 2 -- Support for Affordable Housing in Arlington
BACKGROUND:
The Woodmont Civic Association supports the goal of expanding affordable housing in Arlington County;
The Association supports concentrating density along major transportation corridors, consistent with County policy for decades;
The evidence reviewed by the Association regarding Expanded Housing Options (EHO) policy did not support that it will improve affordable housing.
RESOLUTION 2:
BE IT RESOLVED that the Woodmont Civic Association calls on the Arlington County Board, as a high priority, to create a fulsome public discussion of available options to increase affordable housing; and to define and adopt policies that will increase affordable housing in the county.
